MONTCLAIR GIRLS BASKETBALL FIGHTS TO 14-12 FINISH IN 2024-25 SEASON

The Montclair High School girls basketball team wrapped up a 14-12 season, finishing 7-3 in the Super Essex Conference (SEC) - Colonial Division under head coach Ed Connell. The Mounties displayed grit and determination, securing key wins and battling a competitive schedule. Montclair had several standout victories, including a 43-38 win over Nutley on January 4, marking a breakthrough against a tough opponent. Other dominant performances included a 72-35 win over Newark Tech and a 63-46 win over North Star Academy, highlighting the team’s offensive firepower. In the Essex County Tournament, Montclair won its preliminary round matchup against Montclair Kimberley (46-41) before falling to Mount St. Dominic (57-36) in the first round. The Mounties also clinched a late-season 59-30 victory over North Star Academy to gain momentum heading into the NJSIAA Tournament. Montclair’s season ended in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 Tournament with a 60-28 loss to Paterson Kennedy in the first round. Despite the early exit, the Mounties showed promise throughout the season with strong conference play and key victories. With a solid core of experienced players and young talent, Montclair will look to build on this season’s success and come back even stronger in 2025-2026.
