The Montclair Mounties picked up their first Fitch-Pitt division win of the season on Tuesday, earning a 12–9 road victory over the Bernards Mountaineers in a tough, back-and-forth battle.
Montclair found success by staying composed and making the most of their possessions. Junior captain Jesse Charkow had another strong outing, finishing with 2 goals and an assist while continuing to be a steady presence on both ends of the field.
Junior Adam Schmitt was everywhere for the Mounties, scooping up ground balls all game long and giving Montclair valuable extra chances. He added a goal and an assist as part of a gritty, high-energy performance that helped tilt the game in Montclair’s favor.
Bernards stayed close behind the effort of junior Teagun Hartnett, who had a big day with 4 goals and an assist. He kept the pressure on Montclair’s defense, but the Mounties stayed locked in during the final stretch and closed things out with smart possessions and solid stops.
It was a key divisional win for Montclair and a promising sign of their continued growth. With players like Charkow and Schmitt stepping up in big moments, the Mounties are beginning to find their rhythm in Fitch-Pitt play.
