On Wednesday, April 30, Montclair Mounties matched up against a major Fitch-Pitt division challenge in Delbarton, the top-ranked team in New Jersey and one of the strongest programs in the nation. But for three quarters, the Mounties held their own, keeping the game competitive before Delbarton pulled away in the fourth with a late surge to take a 10–3 win.

Montclair’s defense played with discipline and energy, slowing down a Delbarton offense that’s been explosive all season. The Mounties stayed organized, forced turnovers, and kept the game within reach heading into the final quarter.

Delbarton’s depth began to show in the fourth, as they netted four unanswered goals to create separation and close out the game. Still, Montclair battled to the end, continuing to generate possessions and push the pace even as the clock wound down.

The final score didn’t tell the full story of how competitive the game was through the first three quarters. Montclair proved they could match up with the best, showing flashes of high-level play and toughness that will serve them well as the season continues.
