On Wednesday, the Montclair Boys Basketball Team faced off against PCTI in the annual Jingle Bells Jubilee tourney. They won in convincing fashion against now 0-5 PCTI by a score of 52-37, even in the absence of senior Ben Price. Montclair led and dominated the entire game, including Montclair’s sophomore bigman Merrick Olkowski. He led the team with 13 rebounds and added on 7 points. Junior Jahi Whitney and senior Noah Hutchinson led the team in scoring with 9 each. However, as per usual, the scoring was evenly distributed for Montclair, who have looked like a more cohesive unit so far this season. Although Ben Price struggled in Montclair’s previous game against Verona due to wrist and ankle injuries and missed this game, Montclair’s supporting cast has been able to step up. They have proven that they are more than just supporting players Price and that they too can lead the team to a good win. The team is 3-2 on the year but that record doesn’t accurately represent how strong the team has looked thus far. The team has a tough matchup against 4-1 Newark Collegiate on Jan. 4th, but they will hope to continue their dominance regardless of if they have Price or not.
