Congratulations to junior Brooklyn Awad on being named Athlete of the Year for MHS’s Girls Varsity Bowling Team!! Awad led the girls in game average (136.27 pins) which is 23.5 pins more than the second highest on the team. She was the only girl that represented Montclair in the Essex County Tournament, where she placed 5th, one spot behind the finish she would need to qualify for the state tournament. Additionally, her game-high was 200 pins, and she totaled 6,541 over the course of 48 games. Brooklyn was the leader and mentor of a MHS team that struggled at times with a 5-12 record, but the team certainly has potential as she is the she only upperclassman on a team that had 5 freshmen and 1 sophomore. Next year, she will hope to build on the strong campaigns she’s had over the last year, and hopes to qualify for states.
