The Boys Volleyball team used its serving prowess to dominate the Irvington Blue Knights 2-0 in a straight set victory. (25-11, 25-9) Aces were high as the Mounties doled out a total of 16 unreturnable serves. Senior Outside Hitter Sam Korenbaum had 7 aces including 4 in a row in set 1. Junior Outside Hitter Ben Welsh had 4 and Sophomore Libero Sasha Hube added 3. After weathering the barrage of aces, Irvington was able to pull to within 2 points early in the first set. With a slim 8-6 lead, Hube stepped to the line and delivered back-to-back aces to help get the Mounties back on track. The team continued its dominance and closed out the set 25-11.

In set 2 Irvington was down 4-3 in the early going but the Mounties began piling on points after a side out kill by Middle Blocker Nnamdi Emehelu. With the score at 5-3 Junior Setter, Paul Young stepped behind the line and held serve for 4 straight Mountie points. Irvington scored on a Montclair hitting error to pull to 9-4. Montclair took back possession on kill by Welsh. He then stepped behind the line a contributed 3 aces in a row. With the score now 14-4, the Mounties continued to move forward to a 25-9 win with little resistance from Irvington.

A well-balanced scoring attack included 10 kills, 4 aces for Welsh, 3 kills, 7 aces for Korenbaum, and 4 kills each for Middles Patrick Reesch and Emehelu. Setters Brendan Gibbons and Paul Young had 8 assists each. The Mounties will participate in the Bloomfield Invitational Tournament on April 6 before hosting Liberty Division foe East Orange Campus on Monday, April 8.
