Your Montclair Sports Network Athlete of the Week is freshman outfielder Ella Reynolds of the Montclair High School Softball team. During the week of April 18-April 24, Reynolds led the team to a 3-0 record, moving the team to 4-6 on the season. The first game of the week came on April 18, when the Mounties were away against Union City. During that game, Reynolds stepped up to the plate four times. During her four at-bats, she got three hits, including one double, one triple, and a home run, leaving her with a team-leading .750 batting average. In total, she scored 25% of the team’s runs for that game. Reynolds also ended the game with another team-leading stat, a 2.250 slugging percentage. In the Mounties’ next game, a shutout win against Hoboken at home on April 20, Ella Reynolds was a star yet again. In her only at-bat of the game, Reynolds hit a home run to score her first run of the game. She also had three stolen bases, the most in that game for Montclair. She finished that game with a 1.000 batting average, and another impressive slugging percentage, recording a 4.000 that game. In their final game of the week, the girls faced Hudson Catholic at home, winning dominantly with a final score of 17-2 Montclair. Reynolds stepped up to bat four times again this game, producing yet another spectacular .500 batting average. She recorded 2 hits during her at-bats and scored 2 of Montclair’s 17 runs through the whole game. Reynolds also stole 1 of the Mounties’ two stolen bases. Reynolds finished the week with a 0.667 Batting Average, a 2.417 OPS, and 4 Stolen Bases. The Freshman’s efforts this week led the team to an undefeated record over their three games, and her continued strong play has led the Montclair High School Varsity Girls' Softball team to a four-game win streak.
