The Verona Hillbillies (4-4) defeated the Montclair Mounties (5-4) 55-32 on Thursday night, in convincing fashion.
Verona came out strong, opening the game with a 13-7 run that forced a Montclair timeout late in the first quarter. By halftime, the Hillbillies had extended their lead to seven points and never looked back. From then on, it was all Verona basketball, and they ended the third quarter with a 42-27 advantage.
For Montclair, senior Savannah Seawell, junior Anna O’Keefe, and freshman Sophia Portelli each contributed eight points, but the Mounties were unable to close the gap.
